NMAI Symposium and Panel Discussion
Aldona Jonaitis will moderate a panel discussion “Finding Common Ground in First Nations Art: Bringing Together Cultural Traditions and Creativity," sponsored by the National Museum of the American Indian.

Continuation and Wrap-Up of NMAI Panel Symposium and Discussion

  Co-Operative Art Projects
Participants will be divided into groups to further discuss the panel topic and to design an art project that somehow reflects or represents their reactions to and feelings about the topic. Each group will present its art project design to the entire Gathering.
    Day Two (Wednesday, June 4)

PowerPoint Presentation
Artists who submitted photos of their work will have one minute to present themselves and their photos to the audience.

Agency Presentations
Artist support agencies, museums, grantors and galleries will have two minutes to present themselves to the attending artists. Among the presenting agencies will be the NMAI, the Pilchuck Glass School, the Burke Museum, the Rasmuson Foundation, and many more

Featured Guest Walter Porter will give a presentation "A Box of Daylight"

Lunch Break

A form for evaluation and feedback on Gathering 2008, and suggestions for Gathering 2010 will be distributed at lunch and turned in throughout the afternoon.

During the last half hour of lunch, there will be performances by multi-media artist/poet Donna Foulke & storyteller Lily Hudson.

  Artist and Agency Networking
This is a time for artists to work on their projects, to show their work to each other, agencies and galleries, and to network.

  Closing
Closing comments by Gathering Director. Announcements of upcoming events including the Sealaska Heritage Institute's Juried Art Show at the Sealaska Plaza.
