Amongst other experienced Chilkat and Ravenstail weavers, Clarissa Hudson will be present for weaving instruction and Chilkat design assistance in a thirteen-day gathering, convening daily 9am-9pm.

Retreat is open to Chilkat and Ravenstail weavers of all ages and experience levels. Join us in this cooperative teaching and learning environment. Learn and refine weaving techniques, network, share culture, camaraderie and community.

Each weaver is requested to bring her own project, loom and supplies. Experience living and working together at Silver Cloud Native Art Center, a unique fusion atmosphere of clan house and early turn of the century U.S. Army mansion, owned and operated by Tlingit Master Carver & Artist Wayne Price, and his wife Cherri.

Workshops in carving, drum making, Tlingit songs, dance, and language, Native food gathering, totem poles and canoe building are held at Silver Cloud. The Prices’ are enthusiastic to host a Chilkat weaving retreat. As leader of the North Tide Dancers, Wayne holds drumming ceremonies with song and dance practice every Sunday and Monday evening at Silver Cloud Native Art Center. Retreat weavers are invited to participate or observe.

During the second to the last day of the retreat, on Thursday, April 9th,
there will be a public presentation/open house, inviting Haines and Klukwan to meet the weavers and view their work. Refreshments, commentary by local elders, and traditional songs and dance will be shared.
